How are difficult room acoustics handled?
When tackling room acoustics, ideal system placement and simple acoustic treatment are good practical steps, yet high-quality loudspeaker design is essential for minimising room effects.
Genelec loudspeaker cabinets, drivers and electronics are all crafted to reduce room interaction and deliver uncoloured audio, both on and off-axis. Our coaxial ‘The Ones’ loudspeakers are exceptionally effective at this – and offer the possibility to listen as close as 50 cm away, where room sound is almost inaudible.
Then, by using our room compensation DIP switches - or intelligent SAM™ models - you can further fine-tune your loudspeaker system to deliver perfect sound at the listening position.
How can I know when audio sounds “right”?
In a studio, loudspeaker systems are tuned to sound flat – neutral – so the engineer can fully understand their mixes and know they will sound right on other systems. If your home audio system is compromised by room acoustics, what you hear could be far from what the creator intended.
Thankfully, every Genelec loudspeaker can adapt to the room to ensure a flatter response. You should notice that audio feels true-to-life when the sound is dialled in “right”.
